DUMPSTERS

Please DO NOT EVER dump ashes into the dumpsters.

"Waste management" have had some fires in their trucks (not necessarily from us), and they are warning against substantial clean up costs should a fire start from our refuse. I know this is a real problem because I have had to put out a fire in our dumpsters in the past and I know that Rob has also had to put some out.

Please DO NOT discarded propane bottles in our garbage dumpsters! This could cause a serious explosion when the waste removal truck compresses his load.

ALSO, the dumpsters (and the area around it) are intended for normal household refuse ONLY. Do not dump off old lawn mowers, dishwashers, microwaves, etc... or anything you would not put in your garbage bins at home. All of these other items not only cost us additional money to dispose of but requires a volunteer to load them up and take them to the transfer site. This is unfair to our volunteers so please be respectful of this.

We do have a metal shelf by the dumpsters for small items (not lawn mowers) that are in good working order that someone else may want to use but again, please do not abuse this area.

        NOTE:

Please do not fill the dumpster with bags of branches and leaves as these can be spread in the forest to naturally decompose but if you feel you "must" put leaves in the dumpster then break the bags open and shake the leaves in, that way they will settle to the bottom and not take up as much room.
